WU’s Master’s Program in Economics is for students who want to apply economic theories and cutting-edge empirical methods in a wide variety of areas. The program emphasizes empirical data analysis, applied to specific questions in over half of the courses. Graduates are well prepared to work in fields where data and data analysis are becoming increasingly important.  

In this master’s program, students acquire a thorough understanding of economic theories and state-of-the-art empirical methods that can be applied to a broad range of relevant topics. The program offers an Applied Track and a Science Track.  

The option to choose between 2 tracks and 14 specializations allows you to complete a tailor-made master’s degree that best suits their future aspirations and areas of interest.

In the first year, students acquire solid skills in economic theory and empirical data analysis. The second year focuses on in-depth analyses of policy and business topics based on cutting-edge economic research. 

The Applied Track (AT) prepares students for careers in government, business, or NGOs. It focuses on problem-​solving skills and empirical data analysis. 

The Science Track (ST) is designed for students who would like to pursue a career in economic research. It puts strong emphasis on the mathematical and statistical foundations and on advanced economic theory and methods. The Science Track offers a good preparation for WU’s PhD Label Economics.
