“I never thought a master’s program could have such a lasting impact on both my professional and my private life.”
Antonius Auburger, Management Consultant, Kearney, Australia
Growing up trilingual in a Cuban-German family and having attended schools in Frankfurt, Washington DC, Boston and La Paz during my youth resulted in me always seeking new countries, new adventures and new friends. Exchange semesters seemed like just the right thing to keep that habit going! After completing my bachelor’s degree at the University of Mannheim with an exchange semester in Italy, the CEMS program seemed like the perfect next step. I had heard great things about Vienna but I also wanted to take the exchange semester a bit further this time, so I headed to the University of Sydney in Australia.
What I didn’t expect was that CEMS would give me so much more than just an amazing exchange semester. Courses that were tailored to help us develop a relevant skillset combined with constant exposure to some of the world’s most renowned firms, ensured that I managed to land my dream job.
I started working at Kearney in Vienna after graduating where I kicked off my career as a management consultant. My performance at work combined with my inclination towards new challenges resulted in a once in a lifetime career opportunity – a relocation to Sydney, Australia. I couldn’t wait to be back! The entire Australian experience so far has only boosted my career but has also brought me a life closer to the ocean – an entirely new lifestyle. No matter the time of year, either before or after work, you can find me at one of Sydney’s many surf spots
