The team of the Library for Law<\/a> has compiled a helpful brochure with guidelines for new employees. The A5-format booklet offers a compact overview of all the relevant information about the library as well as useful tips on services, using the library, and acquisitions. Sabrina Breiteneder<\/a>, Barbara Lindsberger<\/a>, Livia Neutsch<\/a>, and Nicole Sommer<\/a> were mainly responsible for the content, and Daniel Kufner<\/a> created the attractive layout. This valuable contribution has earned them the title of our May Team of the Month.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWhere can I find this journal?\u201d \u201cHow can I order a book?\u201d \u201cWhich legal databases are available?\u201d These are just a few of the questions the Library for Law staff are asked on a daily basis. After around five years of day-to-day library life on Campus WU, the Library for Law team has not only developed a certain routine in maintaining the collection, attending to circulation, and assisting patrons at the counter, they also have developed a feel for which information is most important and which news services are in particularly high demand for legal research and teaching at WU.<\/p>\n

Based on the library\u2019s daily operations, the team came up with the idea to create a brochure to answer the questions most frequently asked by new employees. The goal of these guidelines is to provide new employees in WU\u2019s law departments with a brief overview of the most important services and contacts at the Library for Law. The library\u2019s information channels are varied: Patrons can request information by email or telephone, consult the virtual help desk, or come to the library\u2019s front desk in person with their questions.<\/p>\n

The main focus was on designing a brochure that is easily understandable and practical, and academic and administrative staff of the departments contributed valuable feedback. After compiling the contents, an appealing and inviting layout was needed.<\/p>\n

The guidelines are now available in the law institutes and will be presented to new faculty members personally at the library. As a specialist library, the Library for Law is mainly oriented towards meeting the units\u2019 academic needs and providing the best possible support to faculty members in their research and teaching, especially when they are new to WU or are spending time here as visiting researchers. The library\u2019s services and the new brochure are intended to help WU faculty and staff get the most out of their library experience.<\/p>\n
