Students usually think of an international experience as a semester abroad and several months spent at a partner university. To complement this almost traditional exchange format, WU offers International Short Programs (ISPs). These can be seen as a supplement or an alternative to longer stays abroad. International Short Programs appeal especially to those students who prefer shorter and more intensive programs. To get a closer look at the current offerings, we interviewed the International Office.<\/em><\/p>\n

WU Blog: What are International Short Programs (ISPs) exactly?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

International Office:<\/strong> International Short Programs (ISPs) are international short-term programs organized by WU or in cooperation with WU. ISPs take place either abroad or at WU. The courses have an international focus and are taught by WU faculty and international guest lecturers.<\/p>\n

WU Blog: Which programs are being offered this year?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

International Office:<\/strong> During summer, WU students have the opportunity to participate in a number of programs abroad or at WU. The Porto Sustainable Business Summer School<\/a> takes place in July, and the Bangkok Summer School on International Business and Sustainable Development<\/a> in September. Both programs are geared toward bachelor’s students.<\/p>\n

Those who want to gain international experience without traveling abroad can attend the ENGAGE.EU Summer School<\/a> or the International Summer UniversityWU<\/sup> (ISUWU<\/sup>)<\/a>. Both programs take place at Campus WU and are open to WU students as well as to students from partner universities.<\/p>\n

The great thing about ISUWU<\/sup> is that students can choose between course topics such as Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Strategy and Sustainability. Moreover, ISUWU<\/sup> is suitable for both bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s students.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

About the ENGAGE.EU Summer School:<\/strong> For 2023, the main topic is “Transformation to sustainability in Europe: challenges and solutions”. The topic is extremely relevant and is likely to motivate students who want to tackle the challenges of the future. The ENGAGE.EU Summer School is primarily intended for bachelor\u2019s students.<\/p>\n

WU Blog: How can International Short Programs (ISPs) be beneficial for a student?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

International Office:<\/strong> By participating in an ISP, students can gain intercultural experience, network with international students and faculty from around the world, and immerse themselves in different topics. In addition, ISPs can accelerate studies since most programs take place during the lecture-free period. As you can see, our ISP participants appreciate the programs for several reasons.<\/p>\n

Stefan Filaus <\/strong>(Participant, Porto Summer School 2022): <\/strong>The Porto Summer School was a success and a great time for me. I had the opportunity to acquire and apply knowledge from the field of sustainability. In addition, I came into closer contact with students from WU and Cat\u00f3lica Porto Business School. The acquired knowledge in the field of sustainability will help me in the business world and for my later professional career.<\/p>\n

Luisa Lackner (Participant, Bangkok Summer School 2022): <\/strong>In my opinion, the Bangkok Summer School is a great opportunity to broaden your horizons without having to commit to an entire semester abroad. It is the perfect combination of academic and professional development in a three-week setting.<\/p>\n

WU Blog: And how can students apply for the programs?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

International Office:<\/strong> Between March 6 and 13, 2023, students can apply online for the ISPs abroad and the International Summer UniversityWU<\/sup>. Details on the application process are available on this website<\/a>. The application for the ENGAGE.EU Summer School is possible from mid-February to mid-March via the ENGAGE.EU website<\/a>.<\/p>\n
